Squad Wins Outstanding Call Award

The New Jersey State First Aid Council awarded the Fanwood Rescue Squad the 2014 Outstanding Call of the Year during the awards banquet at the annual NJSFAC convention at the Somerset Doubletree Hotel. The award acknowledged our response on January 1 to the young man with a severed arm found lying next to the train tracks near Hetfield Avenue.  Read the details of that call here.

Farewell to our Friend Bob Hoyer

Bob Hoyer, our friend and fellow member since 2006, passed away October 5, 2014, following an episode of cardiac arrest at his home. He was 67. Bob was one of our top responders for several years after first joining as a driver and first responder. He won our EMS Responder of the Year at the annual Overlook Dinner in 2007. Bob’s wife, Bernadette, retired last year after teaching at Brunner Elementary school for many years. Our thoughts are with Bernie and the family during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations in Bob’s memory to the Fanwood Rescue Squad.
