Squad helps Mary Wroblewski celebrate 100th

Fanwood Police, Fire and Rescue conducted a drive-by celebration on Watchung View Place on Saturday, May 11, 2024 for the mother of a Fanwood resident who turns 100-years-old on Mother’s Day, May 12.

Mary Wroblewski was born in Newark to parents who were immigrants to the United States from Russia. She left high school to support her family and later earned her GED and worked her way through Beauty School. She was both a hairdresser and clerical worker in her life, retiring from AT&T in 1989.

She is the mother of Bernadette Hoyer of Fanwood, widow of long-time member of the Fanwood Rescue Squad Bob Hoyer. Mrs. Wroblewski, who resides in Scotch Plains, enjoys reading, gardening, birdwatching and online shopping.

Rescue Squad members Patty Buckridee and Nam-June Joe volunteered their time for this event.
